Terms of Use for What I Spend?
Last updated: 7 August 2026
The licence you already have
This app is licensed to you under Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement (the "Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement"), which you can read at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
That agreement governs your use of the app. It is written by Apple, applies to every app downloaded from the App Store that does not supply its own, and it already contains the disclaimer of warranties and the limitation of liability. The notes below are specific to this app and are meant to be read alongside it, not instead of it.
What this app is
What I Spend? is a notebook for money. It records the figures you type in, adds them up, and describes the result.
It does not connect to your bank, it does not read your statements, and it does not know anything you have not told it.
It is not financial advice
Nothing in this app is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
The summaries describe what you recorded and nothing more. They make no recommendation about what you should buy, sell, save, or do with your money.
For advice about your finances, speak to a qualified professional. Do not rely on this app when making a financial decision.
The figures are yours
Everything the app shows is worked out from what you typed in. If a figure is entered wrongly, the totals and summaries built on it will be wrong too, and the app has no way of knowing.
Check the figures before relying on them, particularly for anything that matters: tax, benefits, a loan application, or a discussion with an adviser.
Keeping your own copy is your responsibility
Your records are stored on your own device and nowhere else. That is a deliberate choice, and it is explained in the privacy policy. It has one consequence you need to know about:
If you lose the device, reset it, or delete the app, the records go with it.
There is no copy anywhere for anyone to restore, including us. The app can save a spreadsheet at any time through Settings, and keeping that copy somewhere safe is up to you.
What we cannot promise
Beyond what Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement provides, and to the fullest extent the law where you live allows:
- The app is provided as it is. It may contain errors, and it may not be available or working at all times.
- We do not promise that the app will meet your particular needs, or that its calculations will be free of mistakes.
- We are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the app, including lost records, lost time, or any financial decision made in reliance on it.
Some places do not allow certain exclusions of liability. Where that is the case, those exclusions do not apply to you, and nothing here removes a right you have under the law where you live that cannot be given up.
Children
This app is not directed at children and is not intended for use by them.
Changes
These terms may be updated when the app changes. The date at the top shows when they last were. Continuing to use the app after a change means the updated terms apply.
